With Ohanian and his 5-year-old daughter, Olympia, he posted pictures of Williams grinning while cradling her newborn.

I’ll always remember the time I introduced @olympiaohanian to her newborn sister, he added, “thanks to all the amazing medical staff who took care of my wife & our daughter.”

He ended by quoting an Isaiah scripture that read, “Your peace would have been like a river, and your well-being like the waves of the sea.”

Williams made her retirement from tennis and decision to concentrate on starting a family known in a Vogue piece published in August of last year.

The phrase “retirement” has never appealed to Williams. Perhaps evolution is the most appropriate phrase to express what I’m doing.

“These days, if I have to pick between building my family and building my tennis resume, I pick the latter,” Serena Williams continued.

Following the birth of Olympia in 2017, Williams was very open about having health issues.

Serena Williams described how the day after having Olympia by cesarean section, Serena Williams experienced numbness in her legs and worried that she might be experiencing a pulmonary embolism, a potentially dangerous blood clot in the lungs. She described this in an essay for Elle.

In the piece, she claimed that she discovered she had blood clots in her lungs in 2010, adding, “Ever since, I’ve lived in fear of their returning. I have a significant risk of blood clots, so it wasn’t a one-time thing.

Despite warning hospital staff, Serena Williams claimed that “no one was really listening to what I was saying.”

Serena Williams claimed that a nurse finally got through to Williams’ doctor after much pleading, and after he consented to check things out, it was discovered that Serena Williams had many blood clots and required multiple procedures.

Williams pointed out that compared to white individuals, black persons in the United States have a nearly threefold greater risk of dying during or shortly after childbirth.

Williams said that “experts believe that many of these deaths are preventable.” “Being heard and treated properly was the difference between life and death for me; I know those statistics would be different if the medical establishment listened to every Black woman’s experience,” the author writes.
